SJ Soulist is a Manchester born London-based singer, rapper, poet. SJ Soulist is an RnB, Hip Hop artist who creates music that infuses 90's old school and contemporary urban music. As a songwriter, SJ Soulist produces a sound that is a mix of both conscious and commercial music with a combination of sweet soulful vocals and raw passionate lyrics.
SJ Soulist has performed, supported and/or worked with the likes of Richard Rawson (former Fazer from N-Dubz), French Montana, Wretch 32, Lady Leshurr, Maverick Sabre, Laura Mvula, Paigey Cakey, Ghettz and Akala.Soulist has also performed alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Urban Proms at The Royal Albert Hall, which was live on television and presented by BBC's renowned radio DJ's Charlie Sloth and Sarah Jane, as well as broadcasted live on BBC Radio 1, 3 and 1xtra. As part of this, SJ Soulist received public recognition in a two-part television documentary – Fazer’s Urban Takeover, which aired on BBC 3 and featured in national newspapers and magazines – that documented her involvement in the Urban Proms.
Since then, SJ Soulist went on to support and/or perform with more industry known talent including French Montana, Avelino, Ms Banks and Nadia Rose.
In 2017, SJ Soulist had the opportunity to perform on one of the stages at Latitude Festival with an impressive crowd of 22,000 attending annually and this year featured AJ Tracey and Jorja Smith.
More recently, SJ Soulist has released her first mixtape 'Then and Now' which talks about her past experiences in a story telling way that grips any listeners of Hip Hop, RnB, Spoken Word and Trap music. Prior to the release of the mixtape, SJ Soulist finished the year of 2017 with her radio tour and mixtape launch party that SOLD OUT.
